El diferent grau de fixació dels fàrmacs a les proteïnes del plasma pot tenir repercussions clíniques importants en determinades malalties o estats fisiològics de l’ésser humà. L’objectiu d’aquest primer simposi internacional de la Fundació Dr. Antoni Esteve va ser el de reunir diferents experts sobre fàrmacs i la seva fixació proteica, per tal de discutir les bases biològiques i els mecanismes bioquímics d’aquesta fixació i la seva implicació en determinades malalties. Tant les ponències com les discussions apareixen en aquest llibre Drug-protein binding editat per Marcus M. Reidenberg (Cornell University Medical College, Nova York) i Sergi Erill (Fundació Dr. Antoni Esteve, Barcelona) i publicat per Praeger Scientific.
