During the first meeting, held in 2010, 35 professors who teach courses in public health in Spanish universities agreed that the basic content of courses in this field should be organized into different degree programs. In this second workshop, again held at the Menorca School of Public Health, attendees reviewed the agreements reached at the first meeting but also incorporated the professions and careers that were absent on that occasion.

Teachers of public health in Dentistry, Physiology, Podiatry and Veterinary degrees will join teachers from other degree programs to identify both core competencies and the material that should be taught in degree programs in public health. The second workshop on the content of public health undergraduate degree programs was held on the 19th and 20th September, 2012, at Lazareto de Maó, where the XXIII Menorca School of Public Health is situated.

It was decided to hold the meeting again following proposals by Fernando G. Benavides and Andreu Segura, from the Spanish Society of Epidemiology, and it will again be held in collaboration with the University of Alicante and the Esteve Foundation. M ª Carmen DavóCarmen Vives, and Carlos Alvarez-Dardet, from the University of Alicante, will be responsible for coordinating the 2-day meeting.
