The Esteve Foundation held its first round table on November 16, 1984. This event also gave birth to a series of publications under the name of Dr. Antonio Esteve’s Monographs. The aim of these round tables was to be a meeting point where small groups of investigators of different disciplines would present and discuss their work. All submissions and discussions performed during that day would be further published in Dr. Antonio Esteve’s Monographs.

The first round table, Daycare hospital and its repercussions in therapeutics, was focused on this new form of medical care, by that time scarcely implemented in Spain. For that purpose, oncologists, psychiatrists, diabetologists and experts in different branches of therapeutics and social medicine discussed the possibilities and advantages of daycare hospitals in Spain. Their submissions are compiled in the first Dr. Antonio Esteve’s Monograph.
