The different degree of plasma protein binding to drugs may have important clinical repercussions on specific diseases or physiological conditions of the human being. The objective of this first international symposium of the Esteve Foundation was to have different experts on drugs and protein binding discuss the biological grounds and the biochemical mechanisms of such binding, as well as their involvement in specific diseases. Both the submissions and the discussions are included in the book Drug-protein binding, edited by Marcus Reidenberg (Cornell University Medical College, New York) and Sergio Erill (Fundación Dr. Antonio Esteve, Barcelona), and published by Praeger Scientific.
