Medicine and science have always been and still are immense sources of literary inspiration. Nowadays, this is also true of television series. The Esteve Foundations was once again collaborating in the summer course of Els Juliols of Universitat de Barcelona Medicine and science in literature and television series, coordinated by Amàlia Lafuente, writer and professor of pharmacology of Universitat de Barcelona.

For five days, the medical and scientific novel were studied, from the pioneer medical best-seller classics and narrative resouces of scientific stories, to the function of medical and scientific literature and television series as sources of dissemination. Students had the opportunity of participating in a literary workshop and to interact with medical writers and cultural critics in different round tables. The course took place from 20 to 24 July 2015 at the UB in Barcelona.

The course was once again be complemented with a literary contest of short stories on medical and scientific topics, in which all students enrolled can take part. The prize, by courtesy of the Escuela de Escritura del Ateneu Barcelonès, consists of the enrollment in one of the most prestigious 20-hour courses within the 2015-2015 programme.
