Els articles que van jugar un paper rellevant en el desenvolupament de la Farmacologia Clínica és l’última proposta de la sèrie Pharmacotherapy Revisited. Aquesta col•lecció de la Fundació Dr. Antoni Esteve recopila en edició facsímil, tal com es va publicar en el seu moment, la literatura que al llarg dels anys va generar una determinada disciplina científica.
Els investigadors clínics, i en especial aquells que estan involucrats en assaigs clínics, estan irremeiablement familiaritzats amb conceptes com doble cec, randomització, anàlisi estadística o placebo, que ja formen part del seu dia a dia. En canvi, amb tota probabilitat, no tots han tingut la oportunitat d’assistir, des de la pròpia bibliografia, al naixement d’alguns d’aquests termes o, almenys, a l’ús precís que en feien les personalitats que han donat forma al camp de la Farmacologia Clínica.
Aquest volum número 7 de Pharmacotherapy Revisited fa la vista enrere i reuneix alguns dels articles científics que van crear un precedent en la historia de la Farmacologia Clínica. Des de l’ús de l’estetoscopi per a mesurar el ritme cardíac a l’encunyació del terme Farmacologia Clínica per part de Harry Gold el 1952. Els 30 articles següents, publicats en diferents revistes científiques entre 1931 i 1982 i reunits en aquest llibre, han estat seleccionats pels farmacòlegs Fèlix Bosch i Sergi Erill, de la Fundació Dr. Antoni Esteve:
