Antonio Esteve Subirana, founder of Laboratorios Dr. Esteve, was born on December 23, 1902. To celebrate the centennial of his birth, a commemorative meeting was held on the 11th of February 2003 at the Llotja de Mar of Barcelona, attended by public figures of the scientific, academic and political environments.
Federico Mayor Zaragoza, former Director-General of the UNESCO and current chairman of the Fundación Cultura de Paz, Fernando García Alonso, Director of the Spanish Drug Agency, Josep Esteve, Dr. Antonio Esteve’s son and current chairman of Laboratorios Dr. Esteve, as well as former president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Jordi Pujol, praised the career of this illustrious Catalan. Dr. Antonio Esteve founded the laboratories bearing his name in 1929 and was chairman of the Association of Pharmacology, of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia and of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans.
