The Generalitat of Catalonia, through the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació, has announced this morning the National Research Awards 2023, among which is the Dr. Antoni Esteve Foundation. This non-profit institution receives the distinction on its 40th anniversary “for its work of more than four decades promoting research and knowledge in pharmacology both in Catalonia and internationally.”

With more than 720 activities and 122 publications carried out over these 40 years, the Dr. Antoni Esteve Foundation aims to promote research in pharmacology. A commitment that is materialized with close collaboration with the main scientific institutions in Catalonia, from research centers and universities to the main hospital centers and scientific societies.

The 2023 National Research Awards were announced this morning at the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya with the presence of Conseller Joaquim Nadal. Representing the Dr. Antoni Esteve Foundation, its President, Laura Gil-Vernet Esteve, and one of the institution’s Trustees, Jordi Esteve Escoda, attended.

In addition to the Dr. Antoni Esteve Foundation, the National Research Awards have gone this year to Eduard Batlle (ICREA), National Research Award for his discoveries on the origin and progression of colorectal tumors, and Mar Reguant (Institut d’Anàlisi Econòmica-CSIC), National Young Talent Award for his studies of the electricity markets.

For its part, the Scientific Communication Award has gone to the CosmoCaixa museum, recognized as “an international reference center in science dissemination”, while the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera has obtained the award for Public-Private Partnership in R+ d. Finally, the Barcelona Biomedical Research Institute and the Icrea institution have been awarded in the Innovation category, which rewards the creation of science-based companies, by the spinoff Nuage Therapeutics.

The delivery ceremony will take place on June 20, 2024 at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya with the presence of the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès.
